The story of Premarché Gelateria’s Vanilla Flavor

Vanilla Flavor is one of the main stars in any Ice cream showcase, its aroma and simple taste makes it irresistible for kids and grown-ups alike specially those who are not a huge fan of strong flavors. Also it goes along side any other flavor without over powering its taste…the best companion!

Now why would I want to talk about vanilla flavor in particular? Well it is because I heard a story about how the vanilla beans of this particular flavor was brought and it just made me enjoy it even more!

The store’s vanilla beans are brought from Uganda. Not just that, it is procured from Uganda ‘s fair trade. To be honest I did not understand the necessity of mentioning that piece of information in the flavor card. But when I read about World Fair Trade Organizations and how they support small scale producers from developing countries to be able to compete in the global market, it made me realize something.

That in buying a single scoop of this vanilla flavor the customer is contributing in the welfare of Uganda’s economy! This is hard to visualize since you dont get to see the change right in front of your eyes, but knowing where these core ingredients (specially highly demanded ones like coca beans and vanilla) are coming from makes you more aware of the ripple effects of every action you take…and for a Gelato shop to make you think that far, it is very special.

Here, our customers do not just eat our Gelato, but they are presented with an opportunity to know more about Global change. So they leave with a wide smile on their faces and some food for thought as well!
